In response to the growing student-housing demand in Limassol, this proposal positions a new residence adjacent to the city centre and alongside a cycling-friendly stream corridor. The elongated site, allows for the creation of a vibrant student community hub embedded in the urban fabric. A visible steel frame structure supports plug-in prefabricated room modules, while a reinforced concrete core houses vertical circulation and strengthens seismic performance. The pronounced steel skeleton and modular rooms define a clear architectural identity: modern, functional and recognisable. Plug-in units arrive pre-finished and are placed into the structure, enabling rapid onsite erection and quality control. The building stretches along the natural axis of the site in parallel to the stream, creating a bioclimatic layout that promotes through-ventilation and daylighting. A generous internal atrium organises communal spaces and movement, while landscaped areas at ground level, within the atrium and on intermediate terraces act as green extensions offering relaxation and social encounter.
Student life is supported through shared study zones, lounges and meeting areas arranged around the atrium. Ground-floor functions such as reception, guard station and services frame the communal core. The stair core is tucked away to free the main façades, ensuring every student room has a direct view to the outdoors. Each floor features semi-outdoor social niches, expanding the living experience beyond the private rooms. Externally, crisp lines, transparent and opaque planes combine with greenery. The steel-frame rhythm and light modules animate the façade while “green windows” frame nature into everyday views. On the roof, photovoltaic panels are integrated as a design feature, supported by high-efficiency HVAC, heat-recovery ventilation and other renewables to achieve Energy Class A.
